3 AcroYoga hotspots in Utrecht you didn't know about...

Summer is the AcroYoga season, because playing in the park or forest is the best! I LOVE playing in nature, especially near water to cool off and practice tricks. But I also appreciate the urban vibe. Most AcroYogis who live in Utrecht know Maarsseveense Plassen, Amelisweerd and the parks, but you probably aren't familiar with these 3 hotspots yet!

1) Between heaven & earth

Although it’s getting more crowded each year, this spot still remains super zen compared to the packed Maarsseveense Plassen (and it's a shorter bike ride ;)).

It lies where Overvecht ends and the meadows begin, in between het Gagelbos en de Ruigenhoeksepolder.

Maybe it’s the lovely river, the sunset against the widespread green fields or the view of the super cozy campsite 'Between heaven and earth', but there's something about this place that always makes me relax instantly.

There's lots of grass on the banks of the river to play on. Come on a weekday to enjoy the stillness and if you're up for it: book a night or two on the campsite on the other side of the river (spots are often limited). It's a lovely, small eco campsite where you can sleep in a tree hut or gypsy wagon or bring your own camper van / tent.

In this online magazine about hotspots and things to do in The Netherlands, you'll read more about the campsite.

2) Urban Vibe

Packed between modern buildings, the brand new central station and a popular skate park, this spot provides the ultimate urban vibe! Here you can play AcroYoga on grass strips in the center of city activity and mingle with playful people.

In between flows, you can drink coffee on the terrace of city kitchen Metro. Or 'bring your own' and hang out on the big steps leading to the station, while watching the skaters do their tricks.

3) Het Kraaiennest

This amazing place in Vuren (30 minutes by car) is surrounded by a beautiful forest and lake and has a lovely festival vibe. On Saturday there's a market with the best festival outfits and vintage kilo sale. You can order coffee, snacks and on the weekends fresh pizza from the brick oven.

The big trees provide enough shade to play AcroYoga, even during the hottest summer days.

You can also cool off in the water or drink ice tea at the bar.

The Linge forest (het Lingebos) and 'de Lievelinge', the campsite that I call my home are also definitely worth a visit! You can enter this amazing glamping spot during weekdays (if you book in advance) or you can book a last-minute spot (it's often fully booked in summer).

Well, I hope you have the opportunity to try out these hotspots. Let me know what you think in the comments below. And I'm also very curious about your AcroYoga JAM hotspots! Let's spread the love...

Hugs, Marijke
